Game Programmer & Platform Engineer
I'm a software engineer by trade and game developer by passion, with a background in both enterprise systems and game programming. While I work professionally in data and infrastructure during the day, I'm busy honing my skills and grinding away at game projects in my free time. I'm currently working on Gruntz Unityverse, a fan remake of the 1999 cult classic Gruntz, blending retro gameplay with modern tooling.
Here comes something familiar, yet also different... Stay tuned!
Bigger, better, and more ambitious than ever, this is a proper comeback for Gruntz! I'm rebuilding the experience with the power of C#, the freedom given by Unity, and the help of the great people keeping this game alive even after almost 30 years: the Gruntz community.
Huge thanks to GooRoo's Gruntz Forum and the Gruntz Universe - your passion and creativity keep the world of Gruntz alive and kicking. ❤️
My initial cross-platform reimagination of Gruntz, this project helped me explore both the potential and the limitations of web-based game programming. Despite being shelved, this project informed architectural decisions for my current Unity-based version, and will always remain my first foray into the wonderful world of game development.
An actual working web-based remake is available online called Dizgruntled on GitHub, made by fellow Gruntz-fan Hugh Collins. Go check it out and cause some chaos!
I'm always open to connecting with fellow devs! Feel free to reach out if you're interested!
